Disagreeing workers of Ural car factory may be fired

Factory owners are tightening the nuts

On March 2, journalists of the Ural news portal U74.ru reported that employees of the Ural automobile plant, who took part in a protest against making changes to the work schedule, received threats from the authorities about probable chances of being fired.

We are talking about an event that took place on February 28 at Predzavodskaya Square in the town of Miass, where the plant is located. The workers of one of the workshops opposed the new work schedule, which provided for only one fixed day off. Everyone who is not ready to work on the new schedule is offered to move to other workshops for new positions, but at the same time, workers lose wages. Those who do not agree to either change or transfer will be dismissed from the enterprise. Especially this applies to those who dare to protest against innovations that restrict the workers’ legal right to rest. Two brigades, led by their own brigade leader, who supported the protest, according to the head of the workshop, are the first candidates for dismissal.

It should be noted that the situation is not an outstanding event. Ural car plant, until recently the property of the oligarch Deripaska, has been in a fever for a long time. The company is afloat mainly on state orders for the Ministry of Defense. Sergei Kolobov, Chairman of the Investment Policy Committee at the South Ural Chamber of Commerce and Industry, believes that the car factory cannot be called an asset that received any serious attention: nothing was invested in its development, markets were lost. Anyway, the contribution of Oleg Deripaska to the industry of the South Urals can be estimated extremely negatively.

«This is the first and oldest enterprise in Chelyabinsk, and now it almost does not exist. Deripaska had a similar production in Orel, and for optimizationpurposes he concentrated everything there. As a result of his management, we lost both the construction design school and the production of loaders,” notes Sergey Kolobov.

In 2018, the oligarch got rid of the factory. So, in the interests of their wallet, the capitalists are destroying Russian industry and enhancing the exploitation of the workers. Those who disagree can always have their salaries cut or simply get dismissed as punishment for protesting or appealing to state bodies. In this situation, it is easy to give up but this would lead to fatal results. The solidarity of all working people, unification in the fight against exploitation — this is a real way out of the situation.
